Yoga Saved My Life!
If you doubt for a minute what yoga can do for you... talk to me!
In 2022, I was diagnosed with EGPA (Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis), an EXTREMELY rare auto-immune disorder. I had underlying symptoms for a few years and just did not know what was going on, until I hit rock bottom. I was fatigued, my whole body ached, I had severe asthma and could not breathe, my joints were turning purple and the final straw was numbness in my left foot (like my foot was asleep - I thought). I was literally curled up in a ball, crying, just miserable.
I had my husband take me to the ER and after 8 days in the hospital, a diagnosis was made. Thank goodness for a resident doc that had just seen this disorder on their board exam study guide!! My life changed dramatically from that moment on. I went from: not even taking an Ibuprofen... to a very large amount of meds to keep me alive.
I was already a Yogi... at the time I was a yoga practitioner for over 12 years, an instructor for 3 years, an avid hiker/walker and living an active lifestyle. That suddenly all came to a halt.
I was now in a wheelchair, weak, and numb from my knees down due to peripheral neuropathy. Here is where Yoga saving my life comes in.
I already had the yoga tools in my toolbox. I was ready to face this mentally, emotionally, and had a base core and balance that would literally help me get back on my feet!
Now, every day, I'm grateful to be able to do what I can. I am sharing this story because I KNOW what a difference yoga can make. I am so happy that I had these tools to get me through this rough patch. I am also grateful for all my friends, family and doctors that helped me through.
Continued support from family and friends!
XOXOXO
